Abstract

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical outcome of autologous stem cells transplantation for the treatment of decompensate liver cirrhosis.Methods 26 patients received bone marrow stem cell transplantation and 14 patients received peripheral blood stem cell transplantation, at the same time all the patients were treated with same medical treatment.Results Since twelve weeks after transplantation, liver synthetic function (serum albumin and prothrombin time) and liver function (serum albumin level increase and CTP score decrease) were significantly improved (P < 0.05) .No related complication or adverse effects were observed in these patients.One patient died of variceal bleeding after 32 months of transplantation.Conclusion Autologous stem cells transplantation might be a safe and effective method for decompensate liver cirrhosis.
