The expression of TPO and GM - CSF in the marrow fluid and the relations with peripheral blood cells of liver cirrhosis patients

Objective To investigate the expression of TPO and GM-CSF in the marrow fluid and the relations with pe-ripheral blood cells of hepatitis cirrhosis patients.Methods Thirty one liver cirrhotic patients and 15 healthy controls were included in the study.Routine blood tests, liver function tests and hepatitis virus markers were analyzed.TPO and GM-CSF concentration of liver cirrhosis patients and healthy control group were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) .Results TPO concentration had negatively correlated with the platelet count (r =-0.496, P < 0.05) .There was no statistically significant difference between the TPO concentration in cirrhotic group (90.756 ± 30.92) pg/ml and the control group (118.414 ± 49.232) pg/ml.Liver cirrhosis patients were classified into three groups according to liver Child-Pugh grade.However, there was no difference between the Child-Pugh grade A, B and C groups, and the control group.There was no significant difference in CM-CSF concentration between the cirrhotic and the control group.Conclu-sion The marrow fluid TPO concentration decline in hepatitis cirrhotic patients might affect the platelet concentration.The relationship between the liver function, CM-CSF and different peripheral blood cells needs further studies.
