  • Pancreatic disease is the most common etiology of left-sided portal hypertension. The major clinical symptoms of pancreatic portal hypertension are isolated gastric fundus varices with normal liver function and unexplained splenomegaly.Splenectomy is the treatment of choice for cases complicated by variceal bleeding. The prognosis of this rare clinical syndrome mainly depends on the underlying etiology.
