Objective To investigate the dynamic changes in thyroid hormone levels in the patients with acute hepatitis B and determine the relationship between the abnormal thyroid hormone levels and onset time.Methods 36 patients with acute hepatitis B and 36 healthy controls were assigned for observation.At admission,thyroid hormone levels including serum total thyroxine(TT4),serum total triiodothyronine(TT3),serum free thyroxine(FT4),serum free triiodothyronine(FT3) and thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH) were tested and compared with those of controls.Check-up was performed at 1 week after admission in patients with abnormal thyroid hormone levels and then was performed per week until normality.The dynamic change of thyroid hormone levels was recorded.Results The levels of TT4,TT3,FT4,FT3 in patients with acute hepatitis B were higher than those in the control group,P<0.05.There was significant difference between the two groups.The TSH value remained within the normal range.The increased serum thyroid hormone levels has returned to normal limits within 3 weeks.Conclusion The patients of acute hepatitis B whose serum thyroid hormone(TT4,TT3,FT4,FT3) levels are higher than normal person do not need treatment and gradually returns to normal with the improvement of the liver.
