Objective To explore the effect of Bicyclol on serum malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in patients with chronic hepatitis B.Methods 85 cases of chronic hepatitis B patients were divided into control group and observation group.The control group of 40 cases was given general therapy, while the observation group of 45 cases was given general treatment in combination with oral bicyclol 50 mg, three times a day.The serum of two groups were collected at 3 months before and after therapy respectively for testing the changes in MDA level, AST, ALT, TBil, Alb, HBV DNA and HBV M.Results The MDA, ALT, AST and TBil were decreased at 3 months after treatment in two groups and the reduction was more significant in the observation group.The level of Alb was increased in two groups.The decreased HBV DNA and seroconversion was observed in some patients but there was no statistically significant difference (Before and after treatment were compared between the two groups) .Conclusion Bicyclol can reduce serum level of MDA in patients with chronic hepatitis B, indicating that bicycle inhibit lipid peroxidation damage and can help to improve liver function.
