The application of interventional therapy for Budd-Chiari syndrome

Objective To explore the application and efficacy of interventional therapy for Budd-Chiari syndrome.Methods 65 patients were treated with balloon valvuloplasty or/and stent implantation and after operation they were followed up for maximum of 10 years.Results All the patients recovered well.The swelling of the lower extremities and the varices of the breast and the abdomen were obviously improved in one week after the operation and at the same time the size of the liver and spleen was decreased to a varying degree.It was confirmed that long-term efficacy was very good with the follow-up.Conclusion Interventional therapy is the method of choice for treating Budd-Chiari syndrome.During the treatment attention should be paid to the choice of methods, operative procedure and prevention of complications.
