The relationship between HBV DNA loads and MELD scores during the process from acute attack to remission of liver disease in HBeAg negative chronic hepatitis B

Objective To fully understand the changes and differences of HBV DNA loads during fastigium and remission in different degrees of acute attack of liver disease in HBeAg negative chronic hepatitis B.Methods To observe and compare the model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) scores and HBV DNA loads during fastigium and remission in an acute attack of liver disease in 62 cases with acute-on-chronic liver failure and 48 cases with severe chronic hepatitis B.Results There were differences in MELD scores and HBV DNA loads during fastigium and remission in acute-on-chronic liver failure group and severe chronic hepatitis B group, and the HBV DNA loads during remission was lower in acute-on chronic liver failure than in severe chronic hepatitis B.Conclusion Regardless of acute-on-chronic liver failure or severe chronic hepatitis B, HBV DNA loads occurred to decrease spontaneously along with the decline of MELD scores from the fastigium to remission in acute attack of liver failure, and the decreased levels of HBV DNA loads were more obviously in acute-on-chronic liver failure group than severe chronic hepatitis B group.
