The relation between serum adiponectin levels and liver function correlated factors in patients with chronic hepatitis B

Objective To investigate the relationship between serum adiponectin levels, and liver function tests and other correlated factors in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) .Methods 77 CHB patients and 30 healthy controls were enrolled in the study.Serum adiponectin was detected by ELIS, and height and body weight measurement, liver function tests, blood lipid, fasting serum blood glucose (FBS) and HBV DNA levels were quantified, simultaneously.Results Serum adiponectin level in CHB patients was significantly higher than the normal control group (P<0.01) , and increased with the severity of the disease.Serum adiponectin was positively correlated with aspartate aminotransferase (AST) , total bilirubin (TBIL) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) , and negatively correlated with albumin (ALB) .Conclusion High adiponectin level in CHB patients is correlated with the liver inflammation, and it could be a marker for the body's anti-inflammatory mechanisms.
