Objective To observe the protective role and safety of tiopionin on liver injury caused by transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) in liver carcinoma.Methods 39 patients with liver carcinoma, who suffered from liver injury after TACE operation were randomly divided into two groups.The treatment group (n=25) was treated with 0.2g tiopionin once daily by intravenous drip, the control group (n=14) was given 0.6g glucurolactone and 0.4g inosine once daily by intravenous drip.The two groups were given other composite treatment and the treated course for both groups was three weeks.Before and after treatment, clinical data including main symptoms, hepatic functions (AST, ALT, TBil) and adverse drug reactions of the two groups were monitored respectively.Results Total effective rate of the treatment group (80.0%) was higher than that of the control group (42.9%) (P<0.05) .At the end of treatment, the levels of AST and ALT were more declined in treatment group than control group (P<0.01) , but there was no significant different in TBil between them (P>0.05) .Acratia, asitia, nausea, hepatic region pain, fever and leukopenia complications after TACE operation were observed in the two groups, but the symptoms were improved more in the treatment group than the control group.There were 2 cases of skin eruption observed in treatment group.Conclusion Tiopionin has good protective effect and safety on liver injury caused by TACE operation.
