The study was aimed to evaluate the effects of heparin on liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B.Sixty-three cases under study were divided into two groups, group A and group B.The two groups were given regular treatment and heparin treatment respectively.Serum ALT and TBil, hyaluronate (HA) , Ⅳ-type collagen (Ⅳ-C) , transforming grouth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) and plasma vWF levels were measured before and after the treatment.Six cases of group B were taken liver biopsy twice.After treatment, hepatic functions became significantly improved in both groups.Serum HA and Ⅳ-type collagen, TGF-β1 levels and plasma vWF levels in group B decreased significantly after treatment while serum HA and Ⅳ-type collagen levels elevated in group A.Serum TGF-β1 and plasma vWF levels in group A changed not much.Collagen proliferation lessened in group B after treatment.Hepatic stellet cells turned normal.Heparin can inhibit liver fibrosis by inhibiting the activation of hepatic stellet cells and improving hepatic microcirculation.
