Abstract: WT5”BZ]To study the relationship between serum transforming growth factor α (TGF α) and transforming growth factor β 1 TGF β 1, and investigate their clinical value in the diagnosis of primary hepatic carcinoma Serum TGF α was measured by means of RIA, and TGF β 1 was measured by means of ELISA in 153 cases with viral hepatitis The TGF α and TGF β 1 levels in various types of viral hepatitis were obviously higher than those in normal controls (P<0 05～0, 01) , except for TGF β 1 in acute hepatitis The TGF β 1 levels showed a positive relationship with TGF α The TGF α and TGF β 1 levels in group of primary liver cancer were obviously higher than those in the other various types of liver diseases groups (P<0 01) TGF α can reflect the severity of hepatic damage The effects of TGF α and TGF β 1 on the patients with liver diseases are diffirent, but the detection of their levels are valuable in predicting of patients condition and prognosis and diagnosing primary liver cancer [WT5”HZ]
